Senior Research Assistant, Research Grants & Contracts

The University of Tennessee at Martin is accepting applications for a full-time Senior Research Assistant with the Office of Research, Grants, and Contracts. The Senior Research Assistant understands the campus culture and how each component (faculty, staff and students) has specific relationships to various programs that grow UT Martin. This position works closely with faculty and staff to determine and recommend appropriate funding agencies for their specific interests and research and also manages both the independent and the teams of grant writers throughout the proposal preparation/submission process. This position is also responsible for researching, developing and coordinating programs for faculty professional development. It is paramount that this position applies a wide range of statistical and research methodology skills and synthesizes data from numerous sources to develop and/or modify evaluation and research plans required in both externally funded projects and internally facilitated faculty development programs.
Responsibilities include:
Research and Sponsored Programs
Work with faculty/staff to identify funding agencies
Assist project directors with writing sections of grant proposals
Manage selected grant writing teams with development of proposals
Provide statistical expertise in research design and statistical applications to research and develop evaluation models and rubrics for sponsored projects
Provide statistical expertise in research design and statistical applications to research and develop survey instruments for data collection
Research and develop research design plans
Compile and analyze data from multiple sources for grant proposals
Serve as external evaluator to selected sponsored projects
Serve as PD or Co-PD on selected sponsored projects
Conduct grant writing workshops for faculty/staff
Consult with current and prospective Project Directors on study design, sample sizes, and statistical issues related to analyses of large scale data sets in order to write the analysis sections of specific grants proposals.
Cultivate relationships with constituencies external to the university
Stay current in personal research strand to publish and present results
Internal Programming
Develop workshops for faculty related to current research/teaching themes
Coordinate and facilitate effective teaching workshops and sessions for faculty
Manage faculty research and development program assessments and revisions
Research and develop faculty research and development programs
Work closely with Faculty Research and Development Committee, Teaching Effectiveness Advisory Committee, and the subcommittees of each of these committees to carry out scope of work related to each committee
Develop and coordinate publicity related to internal faculty research and development award and research and development professional development programs that may include the following media venues such as newsprint articles, ORGC publications, web articles, Addenda, and other UT publications
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree and 1-2 years' experience in higher education management and classroom teaching; extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of research, evaluation, and assessment; experience in working with sponsored research, various funding agencies, and pre-and post-award work; experience developing and leading projects with multiple faculty/staff members; extensive experience working with external audiences (i.e., program officers, k-12 teachers/administrators, state officials, IHE faculty/administrators, community and business leaders); practical experience in researching, developing, managing faculty professional development programs; significant experience with a wide variety of research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative), techniques, and analyses; experience writing for publication; experience with Microsoft Office applications and Survey software.
Desired Qualifications
Doctorate preferred. Experience with electronic submissions of grant proposals and management of funded grant programs; knowledge of and experience with grant budget management; experience working with campus issues such as enrollment management, special student populations, financial aid, student leadership, and student affairs; strong record of scholarship (i.e., classroom, publishing, presentations); significant experience evaluating/reviewing grant proposals and manuscripts; extensive knowledge and experience in developing programs for adult learners in both the online and the onsite environments; experience in developing and delivering online courses; experience working with and/or serving on state and national boards/committees.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
